3 Big records that Virat Kohli is expected to break this year
Over the last few years, Virat Kohli - the current Indian skipper - has been on a record-breaking spree across all the formats. Without any doubt, he has been India's best bet with the bat for a good time now. Moreover, with his never plummeting form, the Delhite will be India's most essential player in the upcoming quadrennial event as well.
Virat Kohli ended the year 2018 on a remarkable note as he grabbed the honors on the list of most ODI runs in the year 2018. He carried the same form in the year 2019 as well. And, much so, he will look to continue on the same lines in the coming future as well. Besides, in his tourney of 2018, Kohli managed to breach a lot of records both as a batsman and as a batsman.
In addition to that, pending his reputation and his current form, the Indian captain is expected to break a good number of records in the year 2019 as well. Thus, let us have a look at five records that Virat is envisioned to breach this year.
#1 Running fast to become the fastest player to surpass 20000 International runs
Virat Kohli is just 687 runs short of achieving the golden milestone of 20,000 international runs. Having gone past the mark, the right-handed batsman will become the only 12th player overall and 3rd Indian to breach the 20000-run mark. However, the real deal is, while passing the 20000-run mark, Kohli will happen to be the fastest ever batsman in the history of cricket to go past 20000 international runs.
Currently, the Indian great Sachin Tendulkar and the West Indian legend Brian Lara hold the record. Both Tendulkar and Lara achieved the feat in 453 innings which made them the fastest ones to do so.
But, with Virat needing just 687 runs from 47 more innings, the record is under serious threat. Hence, considering Kohli's prominence, this particular record will not prove to be an uphill task for the Indian captain. Moreover, respecting the fact that India will be playing a lot of international cricket this year, the case strengthens for Kohli.
