3 David Warner records Travis Head can break in IPLĀ

One of the best batters in the world, David Warner has also made his presence felt in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He started his career in the cash-rich league, playing for the Delhi Capitals (DC) from 2009 to 2013, and then represented the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) until 2021. Under his leadership in 2016, SRH lifted their first and only IPL title. He currently plays for the Delhi Capitals.

Overall, Warner has amassed over 6,500 runs in 183 games and is the most successful overseas batter in the cash-rich league. He is also the third-highest run-scorer after Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.

Meanwhile, Travis Head made an emphatic comeback to the IPL after seven years. He was picked by the SunRisers in the IPL 2024 auction, courtesy of his superlative performance in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Certainly, Head has been sensational in the 2024 season for the SunRisers, slamming 324 runs in six appearances at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 216. The southpaw mustered 102 off 41 balls to help SRH post the highest-ever IPL total of 287 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

On that note, let's take a look at three David Warner records Travis Head can break in IPL 2024.

1) Most runs in Hyderabad for SRH

Warner's best run of form came during his stint with SRH, as he was awarded the Orange Caps (2015, 2017, and 2019) on three occasions. The southpaw slammed 1,485 runs in 29 innings at an average of 64.57 and a strike rate of over 160 for SRH in Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.

Head has started well, scoring 92 runs in two innings at a mind-boggling strike rate of 193.75, with a top score of 62 off 24 against the Mumbai Indians.

2) Runs in powerplay overs

David Warner has been impressive in the powerplay overs in the IPL. So far, he has amassed 3,302 runs in 174 innings at an average of 47.17 and a strike rate of 138.39. Along with his ability to find gaps in the powerplay, Warner converted his starts into a big knock.

Head has been supreme with his ball-striking abilities to power the SunRisers to post strong totals on the board. Due to his knocks of 62 (24), 89 (32), and 102 (41), SRH have managed to cross a total of 260 three times in this season.

Travis Head might break Warner's record soon if he continues his dominance in the upcoming seasons.

3) 1000+ runs against multiple teams

The veteran Australian batter has been consistent with his contributions in the IPL. David Warner is only the third batter after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to score more than 1,000 runs against multiple teams.

Below are the teams for which Warner has touched the four-figure mark in the biggest T20 league in the world.

Punjab Kings - 1,134 runs in 26 innings (AVG. 49.30)

Kolkata Knight Riders - 1,093 runs in 28 innings (AVG. 43.72)

Similarly, Head has been dominating multiple teams in the 2024 season, which gives an idea about his ability to ace the challenge in various situations. If he continues in the same form, the 30-year-old can break this record as well.
