5 highest run-chases at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in IPL history
The Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets in a one-sided encounter in IPL 2023. With RCB losing against GT later in the night, the five-time champions clinched the final playoff spot.
Batting first, SRH posted a competitive total of 200/5 at the end of 20 overs. SRH openers Vivrant Sharma (69 runs off 47 balls) and Mayank Agarwal (83 runs off 46 balls) posted an excellent 140-run opening partnership. However, some fine death bowling led by Akash Madhwal (4 - 0 - 37 - 4) and a mini-collapse in the SRH batting-order, meant that SRH were 20-25 runs off from where they should have been.
In reply, MI recovered from the early loss of Ishan Kishan through an excellent second-wicket partnership by Rohit Sharma (56 runs off 37 balls) and Cameron Green. The Aussie all-rounder scored his maiden IPL hundred (100* runs off 47 balls) to guide his side to an easy win. Green paired with Suryakumar Yadav (25* to finish off the game for MI. The former struck 8 fours and 8 sixes in his whirlwind knock.
