3 players from India's squad to England who might miss out on the World Cup
While it still might be early days to discuss the Indian squad for next year's World Cup, selectors are already planning and working out the best combinations. The early release of the team touring England was to give some players opportunities on the international stage and see how they handle the pressure of being in the national team and watching them deal with tough situations.
While the team is a strong team, it's an experimental team at best with more changes likely to be made before the World Cup in 2019.
Here we look at 3 players in the squad for the tour of England who will most likely miss out on a place in the 2019 World Cup squad.
#3 Shreyas Iyer
Delhi Daredevils new captain and leader, Shreyas Iyer has been in good form in the IPL this season and thus, has won himself a place in the national team squad that will tour England.
Named in the ODI squad, the middle order batsman will have to take full advantage of his call-up and try to cement his place in the Indian team. While the player has all the abilities to make it to the top and stay there, he could fall short of a place in the 2019 World Cup. Iyer has appeared in 6 ODI's and 6 T20I's in his career so far scoring 210 runs and 83 runs respectively in the two formats.
With a number of experienced players also fighting for their spots in the team, with the likes of the Pandya brothers, Ambati Rayudu, and KL Rahul, to name a few, they will all be eager to stake their claim. The 23-year-old Iyer will need to produce some spellbinding innings for over a year to claim a spot in the national team for a place in the World Cup squad.
