3 players who have lost an IPL final with both RCB and CSK ft. Shane Watson

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are currently playing one of the most important matches in IPL history. It is a league game between the two south Indian franchises, and if RCB beat CSK by 18 runs, the Royal Challengers will qualify for the playoffs.

On the other side, the Super Kings will make it to the next round if they win, the match ends in a no result or even if they lose by less than 18 runs. RCB have started well at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, racing to 31/0 in three overs.

Just when it looked like Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli ruled the proceedings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, rain interrupted the proceedings. The match is yet to resume in Bengaluru.

The stands are jam-packed at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for this Super Saturday clash in IPL 2024. Both RCB and CSK have achieved enormous success in the league, qualifying for the playoffs on multiple occasions. While RCB have not won any IPL title, they have played three finals. Meanwhile, CSK have won five trophies, but they have also lost four finals.

Interestingly, there have been three players who were a part of the final-losing squads of RCB and CSK in IPL. Here's a look at the three names.

#1 Shane Watson - Lost IPL Final in 2016 with RCB and 2019 with CSK

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was the architect of Chennai Super Kings' championship win in the year 2018. He smacked a magnificent century against the SunRisers Hyderabad in the final. 10 years before that, Watson won the inaugural IPL championship with the Rajasthan Royals.

However, there were two seasons, where Watson's team lost in the final as well. In 2016, Watson was a member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side that fell short in the final against the SunRisers Hyderabad. Three years later, he gave it all for CSK in the final against the Mumbai Indians, but the Super Kings lost by one run.

#2 Kedar Jadhav - Lost IPL Final in 2009, 2016 with RCB and 2019 with CSK

Kedar Jadhav shared the dressing room with Shane Watson in both seasons - 2016 and 2019. The current JioCinema Marathi commentator represented Bengaluru in 2016, and moved to Chennai in 2018.

He did not feature in any of the two playing XIs for the final. Notably, Jadhav was also with RCB in the year 2009 as well, but he was an uncapped player then and he did not get a single chance in the IPL as well. He made his debut for the Delhi Daredevils against RCB in 2010 and smashed an unbeaten half-ton.

#3 Karn Sharma - Lost IPL Final in 2009 with Bengaluru and 2019 with Chennai

Karn Sharma made his IPL debut for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2009. He played just one match that season and did not get a chance in the final, but he was with the RCB squad.

10 years later, he was in the Chennai Super Kings squad that lost against Mumbai Indians in 2019. Like the 2009 season, Sharma played just one game in the 2019 season as well.

He is a part of the RCB squad in the ongoing season. In fact, he is playing tonight's match in IPL 2024 as well.
