3 players who have scored 50 IPL fifties
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has kept everyone on their toes with the level of intensity the teams have shown in nail-biting matches. The competition is getting stiff with each passing game and all 10 teams have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.
The ongoing season of the IPL has also seen many milestones being reached. On that note, here's a look at the three players who have recorded 50 IPL fifties, with two of them achieving the feat this season itself.
3 players to score 50 half-centuries in IPL
#1 Shikhar Dhawan
The left-handed opener and Punjab Kings captain is the latest entrant to the exclusive 50 IPL fifties club. Shikhar Dhawan achieved the feat during his side's loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday, May 8, 2023.
Dhawan scored 57 off 47 balls with the help of nine fours and a six as PBKS posted a first innings total of 179/7. It was the 50th IPL half-century for Dhawan even though it came in a losing cause.
Most of Dhawan's 50 IPL fifties came for Sunrisers Hyderabad (19) and Delhi Capitals (16). This was his sixth for Punjab Kings while he also scored a few for Deccan Chargers (7) and Mumbai Indians (2).
Dhawan became the first player to score back-to-back centuries in the IPL while representing Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020.
#2 Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli achieved the milestone in his latest IPL knock against Delhi Capitals on May 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Kohli made 55 runs from 46 deliveries with just five boundaries coming from his blade.
Kohli scored his 50th IPL fifty in his 225th innings. He has 55 fifty-plus scores in the IPL, including five centuries. During his sluggish knock in Kotla, Kohli completed 7000 runs in the IPL and 1000 runs against the Delhi Capitals.
Notably, Virat Kohli has scored the most fifties in the IPL for a single franchise, given the fact that he hasn't played for any team other than RCB.
#3 David Warner
David Warner was the first player in IPL history to attain the milestone of 50 IPL fifties. Warner, who was the then captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, scored 57 off 55 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 28, 2021 to complete his 50th IPL fifty.
The Australian has the most fifty-plus scores in the IPL at present, including 59 half-centuries and four centuries. Warner has scored 40 fifties for SRH and the remaining 19 for Delhi Capitals.
