3 players who will play for GT in IPL 2025 after being at RCB in 2024 ft. Mohammed Siraj
Gujarat Titans (GT) have assembled a fantastic squad for IPL 2025. The Ahmedabad-based franchise seem to have covered all bases on paper.
Shubman Gill will captain the Gujarat Titans once again. While the team did not qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024, the management has backed the captain and four other players from that squad, namely Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Tewatia.
Apart from the names mentioned above, R Sai Kishore, Manav Suthar, and Jayant Yadav are the only players who represented GT in 2024 and will play for them in 2025. Interestingly, the Titans have roped in a trio of players who turned up for RCB in IPL 2024. Here's a list of those three names.
#1 Mohammed Siraj
Ace Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will play his first season for a team other than Royal Challengers Bengaluru after the 2017 edition of IPL. Siraj played for SunRisers Hyderabad in 2017 and then joined RCB in 2018, remaining a part of the Bengaluru-based franchise till the 2024 season.
In all, Siraj 87 matches for the Royal Challengers team, scalping 83 wickets at an economy rate of 8.6 runs per over. The right-arm pacer would leak runs during the initial phase of his stint with RCB, but Virat Kohli backed him and his performance improved significantly.
In a league match against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020, Siraj became the first bowler in the tournament's history to bowl two maiden overs in the same game. Many fans expected RCB to retain Siraj or use the RTM card for him. However, the Bengaluru-based franchise allowed the Gujarat Titans to sign their ace pacer for ₹12.25 crore.
#2 Mahipal Lomror
Uncapped Indian all-rounder Mahipal Lomror will don the Gujarat Titans jersey for the first time in his career in IPL 2025. Lomror joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022 and remained a part of the RCB squad till 2024.
RCB backed him, picking him in their playing XI for 29 matches. The all-rounder scored 346 runs at a strike rate of 155.86 but failed to scalp a single wicket for the Bengaluru-based franchise. It will be interesting to see how Lomror performs for the Titans in the upcoming season.
#3 Anuj Rawat
Another uncapped Indian player to feature on this list is Anuj Rawat. He is a left-handed wicketkeeper batter, who scored a magnificent half-century against the Mumbai Indians in a league match of the 2022 season.
RCB backed the explosive wicketkeeper batter for the next two seasons, but he could not score a half-century. Rawat managed 318 runs in 22 matches for RCB, averaging 21.2 with the bat. His strike rate was below 120 as well, which is why RCB did not show much interest in getting him back at the auction.
Rawat will likely play as a backup wicketkeeper for Gujarat Titans. Jos Buttler should be the team's first-choice wicketkeeper.
