3 top players from Delhi who will represent LSG in IPL 2025 ft. Rishabh Pant

It turned out to be a record-breaking Indian Premier League (IPL) auction with huge money being spent on certain individual players. The mega auction which was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last month saw Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer becoming the two costliest ever buys in the history of the auction.

The Lucknow Supergiants (LSG), a relatively new franchise that made its debut in 2022 alongside the Gujarat Titans took some bold moves. They bought several new look players, which included a record-breaking deal for Rishabh Pant. He was purchased by Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise for a whopping price of INR 27 crores.

They had retained the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi ahead of the auction as the capped players, while Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan were retained as the two uncapped players. They also managed to form a strong side in the auction that has the ability to beat any side in the competition.

Their batting line-up looks explosive while their bowling unit is a well-oiled one. Over the years, we have witnessed several Delhi players making headlines with their exceptional cricketing prowess and have gone on to represent their country successfully.

There will be three top Delhi players who will be part of the LSG squad for the upcoming season. Now let us have a look at those three players who will be plying their trade for LSG in the 2025 IPL.

#3 Ayush Badoni

The pocket-sized dynamite, Ayush Badoni has taken giant strides in his cricketing career ever since his association with the LSG squad. He was bought by the franchise for his base price of INR 20 lakhs when no one had an idea of what to expect from the youngster.

The 25-year-old stylish batter made an immediate impression on the franchise in the 2022 season, playing a couple of match-winning knocks. However, his form dipped as the tournament went on. Consistency has been a factor but LSG showed faith in his abilities and retained him ahead of the 2025 auction.

He is someone who can take the ball game away from you with his amazing ball striking and also can mold his attacking instincts given the situation of the game. Badoni hasn't been in the greatest of forms in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but will look to get into his groove in the final stages of the tournament.

#2 Mayank Yadav

One of the most tearaway fast bowlers going around in world cricket, Mayank Yadav has been a phenomenon in the Indian cricketing circle due to his raw pace and ability to hurry any top-class batters. He was bought by the LSG squad having just two wickets in his List A career ahead of the 2022 auction.

He didn't feature in the first two sessions due to injury concerns but in 2024 he made his presence felt in his first two opportunities for the franchise. He consistently clocked over 150 kph and even bagged the Player of the Match awards in his first two games. It was a lower abdominal strain that forced him out for the remainder of the tournament.

His vicious pace and ability to hit the right lengths made the selectors keep him in the pipeline for national selection. He made his international debut for India earlier this year against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series. The speedster from Delhi will certainly look to make a significant impact in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

#1 Rishabh Pant

Pant was released by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2025 auction. Newly appointed head coach Hemang Badani recently revealed that the swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter wanted to enter the auction as Pant felt he could fetch a much larger sum and tried to test the market.

He ended up fetching the highest bid in the IPL's history when LSG snapped him up for a whopping INR 27 crores. Pant is also expected to take charge of the side that was earlier led by KL Rahul in the first three seasons.

Pant can literally take any bowling attack to the cleaners, so it wasn't a big surprise when he went for such a massive sum. Since coming back from a life-threatening accident in December 2022, Pant has evolved into a beast over the last year and will be looking to make a big impact for the new franchise in 2025.
