3 things we learnt from Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings game

Well of course you can never keep CSK out of the game for long, and yet again they showed why they are the champions in the IPL. When everyone thought they were down and out with 30 to get off the last 3 overs on a sluggish pitch, CSK came out on top with 5 balls to spare. Neither the rain nor RR could stop CSK from taking away 2 points. After a rain-delayed start, Rajasthan didn’t get off to a good start, losing wickets in succession and finally ended up with a total of 126. Chasing 127 for victory, CSK were first guided by Raina and after losing a flurry of wickets, banked on yet another Albie Morkel special to see them through. However, here are 3 points to ponder upon :

When Watson shines, RR shine.

Or rather the other way round. At this point of time in their IPL campaign, Watson is the key player for RR. With Rahane losing form, Watson is their mainstay with the bat. The bowling is no different considering Tait can be wayward. Against the Super Kings, Watson had a bad day with both the bat and the ball and the result reflects the same. If RR still fancy their chances of making the play-offs, Watson is their saviour.
When Albie hits them, they stay hit.
If you don’t believe me, ask Virat Kohli. Yes the South African all-rounder yet again took CSK home, thanks to his mighty blows. He scored 18 off just 6 balls in the rain-interrupted game. Also he has hit the longest six in the ongoing Super Sixes competition. With the business end of the initial stage nearing, and CSK yet to seal a spot in the play-offs, expect some more fireworks from this man.

When CSK are playing, it’s not over until it’s over.

They showed us last year and they are showing it yet again – CSK are champion material. Last year they were down and out in Dharmasala and it all seemed but over when Dhoni produced one of the best knocks in IPL. This season yet again is reaching a similar point. They have to try and win all their remaining matches, if they want to make it to the play-offs. Who knows there still might be a twist in the tale!
