4 Cricket records which were broken on the same day that they were created
Whenever a cricketer makes his debut on the cricket field, he always has a dream of owning one cricket record to his name in his career. Some players have etched their names in the history books by creating some unbreakable records.
Rohit Sharma has 3 ODI double centuries to his name while the rest of the world has been able to score just 5 ODI double hundreds. Don Bradman had a batting average of 99.94 in Tests, a record which is yet to be broken by any other batsman. England had defeated Canada by 8 wickets and with 277 balls to spare in the year 1979, a record which has been standing for the last 40 years.
But, not all records have the same fate. There have been numerous occasions where a newly created record was broken on the same day or within a few minutes. And so, here are the 4 most short-lived records in cricket history.
#4 Highest individual score in ODI Cricket - Broken on the same day
In the 1975 World Cup, English batsman Dennis Amiss created the record of the highest individual score by scoring 137 off 147 balls against India on 7th June, 1975. However, two group matches were scheduled for that day and in the second match of the day between New Zealand and East Africa, Glenn Turner smashed 171 runs for New Zealand and broke the record which was created just hours before.
Glenn Turner had played 201 balls in that innings and had hit 16 fours and 2 sixes to help New Zealand reach 309/5 in their 60 overs. In reply, East Africa could score only 128 runs as New Zealand won the match by a huge margin of 181 runs.
