4 former CSK players who have acted in movies ft. Harbhajan Singh

Many former cricketers have ventured into various fields, from singing to reality TV shows, and some have even pursued acting in films. The Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League with five IPL titles, has seen many remarkable players don the yellow jersey over the years.

Thalapathy Vijay's highly anticipated film "GOAT" (The Greatest of All Time) was released on September 5, 2024. It featured MS Dhoni, one of the most successful captains in Chennai Super Kings history.

Although Dhoni did not act in the movie, a segment showcased him playing an IPL match, where he was seen walking down the stairs of M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Vijay also appeared on screen during this segment, much to the delight of fans who enjoyed seeing their favorite cricketer on the big screen.

Although Dhoni wasn’t part of the movie, a few former CSK players have ventured into acting. Here, we’ll take a look at some of these former CSK players who have appeared in films.

#1 Subramaniam Badrinath

One day before the theatrical release of "GOAT," which features a clip of MS Dhoni, former CSK player Subramaniam Badrinath confirmed his involvement in the film. On his X account, Badrinath shared his excitement about his role and invited fans to provide feedback.

The film, directed by Venkat Prabhu, stars Vijay in the lead role and features Prabhu Deva and Yogi Babu.

Badrinath played for CSK across six seasons from 2008 to 2013, appearing in 95 matches and scoring 1,441 runs, including 11 half-centuries.

#2 Irfan Pathan

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan was signed by CSK for the 2015 IPL season, but the all-rounder did not get a chance to play. In 2022, the 39-year-old made his acting debut in the Tamil film "Cobra," where he portrayed a Turkish Interpol officer named Aslan Yilmaz.

In this action-thriller, Pathan took on a supporting role, involved in pursuing the lead character played by Tamil actor Vikram. This marked Irfan Pathan's entry into the film industry.

He represented India in 173 international matches, having played his last T20I in October 2012.

#3 Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh, known for his appearances on numerous TV reality shows, has also acted in several movies. In "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi," a romantic comedy featuring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra, Harbhajan made a brief cameo as himself.

The film includes a cricket match scene where he appears alongside other cricketers like Kapil Dev and Navjot Singh Sidhu, contributing to a light-hearted and comedic moment.

Additionally, Harbhajan starred in the 2021 Tamil-language film "Friendship," where he played a college student from Punjab. The movie combines action, comedy, and drama, focusing on themes of friendship, love, and student activism.

The off-spinner featured in 24 IPL matches for CSK, and claimed 23 wickets.

#4 Dwayne Bravo

The final player on the list is West Indian cricketer Dwayne Bravo. The former CSK all-rounder and current bowling coach made a brief appearance in the 2019 film "Chithiram Pesuthadi 2." His role was primarily for a song and dance sequence, serving more as a celebrity cameo.

He represented CSK for 10 seasons, appearing in 126 matches and taking 157 wickets. He also won the Purple Cap in the 2013 and 2015 seasons.
