4 players who will play for LSG in IPL 2025 after being at SRH in 2024 ft. Aiden Markram
The IPL 2025 mega auction witnessed certain shuffles between the players and the franchises. While some teams made conscious efforts to retain the core of the team of last season, other teams went all out to bring in fresh faces to represent them in 2025.
Two teams i.e. SRH and LSG had contrasting fortunes in IPL 2024. While SRH were runners-up, LSG finished seventh on the points table.
LSG have now acquired four players who were a part of SRH in IPL 2024. Here is a look at them:
#1 Aiden Markram
The South African batter had an ordinary IPL 2024. In 11 innings with the bat, he scored 220 runs at an average of 24.44 and a strike rate of less than 125.
LSG have acquired Markram for IPL 2025 and in all probabilities, the South African will open the batting for his franchise.
Markram has a decent IPL record scoring: 995 runs in 42 innings with the bat and has a strike rate of almost 130.
The very prospect of having Markram, Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran in the same team is a dangerous one for the opponents in the upcoming IPL season.
#2 Abdul Samad
Samad made his IPL debut for SRH in 2020 and played four more seasons thereafter for the said franchise. In 40 innings across 50 IPL games, he has an astounding strike rate of 146.07.
He is a dangerous batter for the opponents especially in the death overs and can change the course of a game in quick time. However, he has not been consistent in scoring runs and hence he was released by SRH.
LSG have picked up Samad and will look to utilize his talent in the lower middle order in what could be a smart pick for the franchise in IPL 2025.
#3 Shahbaz Ahmed
The all-rounder played 16 matches for SRH in IPL 2024. He had an ordinary tournament scoring 215 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 129.129.51 with the bat.
He could pick up only seven wickets at an economy rate of 9.35 during IPL 2024. SRH did not retain Ahmed for IPL 2025.
Ahmed will now feature for LSG in IPL 2025 and will be an integral part of their middle order. This will be Ahmed's sixth IPL season. He played his first four IPL seasons for RCB but is yet to set the stage on fire on the big stage.
#4 Akash Singh
Akash Singh was part of the SRH franchise in IPL 2024. Singh is primarily a left-hand pacer. However, he did not feature in SRH's playing X1 in any of the matches during IPL 2024.
For the record, Singh has played seven IPL matches, six for CSK in IPL 2023 and one for Rajasthan Royals in 2021. He has picked up five IPL matches to date.
Singh will play for LSG in IPL 2025 and will look to announce his arrival on the big stage as soon as he gets an opportunity to feature in the playing X1.
