5 batsmen Sachin Tendulkar has dismissed the most number of times
The Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, is known the world over for his exploits with the bat, across all formats of the game. However, his ability as a spin bowler to pick up important wickets at crucial intervals swung many a game in India's favour.
Born in Mumbai, Tendulkar has amassed 201 wickets during his 24-year career in all formats of the game. He has picked up 156 wickets in the ODI format in 463 games, 45 scalps in Test cricket over 200 games and a single T20 scalp.
Here, we take a look at five quality, world-class batsmen that Sachin dismissed the most number of times during his phenomenal career.
#5 Arjuna Ranatunga - 3 times
Former Sri Lankan captain and legendary cricketer, Arjuna Ranatunga oversaw Sri Lanka's maiden World Cup triumph, in 1996. Ranatunga helped script one of the greatest underdog stories in the sport, guiding a small nation to WC glory and making the country a major player in the world game.
Often referred to as 'Captain Cool' - as Dhoni later came to be known, Ranatunga was a skilful cricketer with a great tactical mind for the game. A right-hand medium pace bowler and a left-hand bat, Ranatunga represented his country in over 250 ODI's as well as 93 tests.
In a 1994 ODI, as India took on Sri Lanka, Tendulkar produced a great bowling display dismissing opening batsmen Samaweera and Roshan Mahanama.However, his most telling blow was when he got Sri Lanka’s prolific bat, Ranatunga, caught behind for only eight. Tendulkar’s three wickets for 41 runs was instrumental, as India won the game by eight runs.
A lower middle-order bat, the Sri Lankan was dismissed on three occasions by the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. The former Sri Lankan captain is now taking part in politics and is an MP in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development in Sri Lanka.
