5 best CPL performers who'll play 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eights ft. Shai Hope

The Super Eight stage of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup is about to get underway on Wednesday, June 19. This is the precursor to the semifinal stage of the tournament, with four teams moving further from this platform.

Australia, England, India, the USA, the West Indies, Afghanistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh are the sides that have qualified for the Super Eight stage.

A lot of these teams have players in their sides who have represented various franchises in the Caribbean Premier League which gives them extensive knowledge about the pitches in this part of the world.

We believe that this knowledge will come in handy for these players and their respective sides as it will allow them to pull ahead of their opponents in crunch situations. The entirety of this stage is being held in the West Indies.

In this listicle, we take a look at the top five CPL performers who will play in the T20 World Cup Super Eights:

#5 Ali Khan

USA seamer Ali Khan, who has impressed all and sundry with his raw pace in this tournament, will be one of the players in action in the Super Eight stage.

Khan was vital for his team beating Pakistan in the group stage and eventually paving the way for the latter to get knocked out.

He plies his trade for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL and will be keen on exhibiting his knowledge of the conditions of the Caribbean.

The USA will rely heavily upon him to get early breakthroughs and progress further in the tournament.

#4 Steven Taylor

USA batter Steven Taylor, who has been critical for his team at the top of the order, will be hopeful of recreating the knowledge he has of the pitches of the Caribbean.

Having played for the Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL, Taylor knows fairly well how the surfaces play here and how he can adapt to them.

This knowledge can also be shared with other batters in the USA side to help them adapt. His expertise will come in handy for his country in the Super Eight stage

#3 Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran, who was the fourth-highest run-getter of the 2023 CPL with 291 runs in his kitty at an average of 32.33, will be hoping to lead the West Indies to the next stage of the T20 World Cup.

Pooran comes into the ongoing T20 World Cup on the back of a stupendous showing with the bat in hand for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and will be keen on helping his side lift the trophy they have already won twice.

The southpaw is an excellent striker of the cricket ball and is known to hit it miles whenever he gets it off the middle of his bat.

#2 Andre Russell

Andre Russell did not have the best of times with the bat in hand for Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL last season, but did well with the ball for them, picking up 11 wickets in as many appearances.

The burly all-rounder will have a massive role to play for the Windies in the Super Eight stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup with both the bat and the ball.

Russell, who was one of the vital cogs in the Kolkata Knight Riders wheel in their IPL 2024 triumph, does not have a big score to his name yet but will be keen on changing that soon.

#1 Shai Hope

Shai Hope was the leading run-getter of CPL 2023 with 481 runs under his belt in 12 innings at an extremely impressive average of 53 for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

He has not been able to notch up big scores in the ongoing T20 World Cup as yet but it is only a matter of time before that changes and he leads the Windies from the front.

He is a key batter for the Windies and will have to take the responsibility of guiding them through the Super Eight stage to the semifinals.

Hope's ability to rotate the strike as well as hit boundaries at regular intervals makes him a dangerous proposition in T20 cricket.
