5 best innings of Inzamam-ul-Haq's careerĀ

Inzamam Ul Haq Pakistan Cricket
Inzamam-ul-Haq is one of the greatest players in Pakistan's rich cricket history

Inzamam-ul-Haq may not have been the agilest of players to have stepped onto the cricket field, but what he lacked in fitness, he made up for it with his exquisite batting that oozed of class and subtle strokeplay that defied his stocky figure.

A genuine match-winner in both the Test and ODI format, Inzamam announced himself on the big stage with his heroics during the 1992 ODI World Cup and served Pakistan cricket with utmost dedication over a career that spanned over 15 years.

He may not have his name etched in many record books but Inzamam's greatness lies in the fact that he commanded respect from his peers and fellow teammates with his many match-saving knocks that brought glory to his national side.

Let's take a look at the five best innings Inzamam played during his international career in both Test and ODI cricket combined.

#5 148 vs England at Lord's - 1st Test, Pakistan tour of England, 25-29 July 1996

With the swing duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in their prime during the 1990s, Pakistan had a very successful time during their tours to England during that period, with some citing Pakistan as one of the greatest touring sides the country had seen.

During the summer of 1992 in England, in the five-Test series that saw Inzamam make his Test debut for Pakistan, the tourists scripted a famous 2-1 victory but it was a series to forget for Inzamam as he struggled in the seaming conditions, averaging just 13.2 in the first four Tests before being dropped for the decider.

Four years down the line, a much more assured Inzamam redeemed himself at the Mecca of Cricket - The Lord's - with a majestic knock of 148 in the first innings of the opening Test to help Pakistan post a total of 340.

England replied with 285 on the board and in the second innings, Inzamam continued to be a headache for the English bowlers with his knock of 70 as Pakistan eventually secured a 164-run victory.

Pakistan won the final match as well, to clinch the series 2-0 and Inzamam had ensured that he buried the ghosts of the past to play a match-winning role during the series.
