5 breakout performers in T20 Mumbai League 2025 who IPL teams must target ft. Sairaj Patil
The T20 excitement continued even after the conclusion of IPL 2025, with the T20 Mumbai League 2025 played from June 4 to June 12. Eight teams representing the different parts of the city played five round-robin games, followed by the semifinal and final.
Led by Siddesh Lad, the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals won the title by defeating the SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the grand finale. Results aside, a few players who thrived in the tournament could be looked at by the 10 IPL franchises for next season.
With the 2025 IPL witnessing several youngsters and newcomers breaking out, the franchises must have had one eye on the Mumbai League.
As the 10 IPL teams plan for next season, here are five breakout stars of the 2025 T20 Mumbai League they must target.
# 1 Sairaj Patil
Sairaj Patil of the Eagle Thane Strikers was rightly adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his consistent batting performances throughout the season. The 28-year-old finished with excellent numbers, scoring 233 runs at an average of over 58 and a strike rate of 150.32 in six matches.
His heroics helped the Strikers win five out of six round-robin matches and finish on top of the points table. While they lost in the semifinal, Sairaj scored an impressive 41 in the contest.
Impactful middle-order batting aside, Sairaj's medium-pace bowling was also on full display. The Thane-born cricketer finished with seven wickets at an average of 16.29 and an economy of 7.35.
It is a no-brainer that a middle-order game changer who can contribute with medium-pace bowling will be on top of the IPL teams' wishlists.
# 2 Chinmay Rajesh Sutar
Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals can thank 28-year-old Chinmay Rajesh Sutar for their incredible title run in the T20 Mumbai League 2025. The right-hander finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 271 runs at an average of over 54 and a strike rate of 132.84 in seven outings.
His overall consistency aside, Sutar also showcased his big-match prowess with a Player of the Match performance in the grand finale. He scored a crucial 49-ball 53, batting at No.3, to help his side chase down 158 in the final over.
IPL teams would have realized the value of top-order consistency more than ever when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fed off their top three to win a maiden title in the 2025 season. It makes Sutar a potential buy in the IPL 2026 auction.
# 3 Shashank Attarde
Eagle Thane Strikers spinner Shashank Attarde stood out in the Mumbai League as far as bowling is concerned. The 33-year-old finished as the leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets at an average of 13.36 and an economy of 6.12 in six matches.
Shashank played a massive role in the Strikers' dominating performance in the league stage. His ability to bowl with the new ball, a skill that only a select few like Ravichandran Ashwin have mastered, should attract bids from the IPL franchises in the 2026 auction.
Shashank is also a capable lower-order batter, evidenced by his 17.12 average in first-class cricket.
# 4 Akash Parkar
31-year-old Akash Parkar was the best all-rounder of the T20 Mumbai League 2025. After helping the SoBo Mumbai Falcons finish second on the standings with four wins in five matches, Parkar produced arguably the best performance of the tournament in the semifinal.
He picked up three wickets in two overs with his medium-pace bowling before scoring a match-winning 20-ball 32 in the run chase. His heroics helped the Falcons advance to the final, where they suffered a last-over loss.
Parkar finished with seven wickets in as many matches at an excellent average of 16.43 and an economy of 7.11.
# 5 Harsh Aghav
18-year-old Harsh Aghav could be a dark horse buy in the IPL 2026 auction, similar to Vaibhav Suryavanshi last year. In a similar mold to Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Vipraj Nigam, Harsh added impetus to the SoBo Mumbai Falcons' lower order, while bowling economical spells with his leg-spin bowling.
The teenager finished with 149 runs at an average of almost 50 and an outstanding strike rate of 165.56 in seven matches. Considering that the IPL is full of top-order riches, Harsh could be the unique lower-order batter with leg-spin bowling capabilities that franchises target in the 2026 auction.
