5 great batsmen at the T20 World Cup who left us disappointed

The T20 World Cup having come to an end, it is time to look back at the performances of some of the star players. T20 cricket is all about batsmen and there were some of them who were expected to light up the tournament with their shots. But it was not to be.

Contrary to expectations, some star batsmen failed to shine in this year's tournament letting down their countries and fans big time. This is not a list of good batsmen who performed poorly in this tournament. Here we are looking at some of the best batsmen of whom much was expected but they left us disappointed.

AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers looks dejected after being dismissed against West Indies.

Perhaps the most versatile batsman in world cricket today, AB de Villiers is well suited to T20 cricket for his destructive batting ability. But the common charge levelled against him is that he has been more successful in the IPL while failing to replicate that success while playing for his country.

Much was expected of him as many believed he could carry the burden of the nation on his shoulders in the T20 World Cup. But he managed to accumulate only 110 from the 4 matches he played in.

His only worthy contribution was a knock of 64 against Afghanistan at the Wankhede Stadium. He failed to get big runs in the other three games when it mattered the most. South Africa failed to make it beyond the group stages and his world cup jinx continues for now.
