5 Indian cricketers who had only one good IPL season
The Indian Premier League is much more than a domestic T20 competition which sees players going for massive amounts of money to their franchise teams. It has proven to be a stage where many cricketers have announced themselves and their talent, and has seen many players going forward and being selected to play for their national sides.
This year's season of the IPL has seen many cricketers showing signs of promise for the future. Players such as Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and Krunal Pandya have all shown the enormous talent which they possess and would definitely have caught the eyes of the Indian selectors.
Talented players bursting onto the scene during an IPL season are not uncommon. Each season of the IPL unearths fresh talent, with some going on to play for their national sides and others fading away from memory.
This article will look at five cricketers who each had a phenomenal IPL season but who failed to keep up the momentum and ultimately faded away into the background.
#1 Saurabh Tiwary
The name Saurabh Tiwary might not ring any bells unless you are a loyal cricketing fan and a supporter of the Mumbai Indians. Tiwary had an immense impact during the 2010 season of the IPL, scoring 419 from 16 matches at a strike-rate of 135.59.
Because of his long hair, his ability to play the helicopter shot and his strong ability as a finisher, Tiwary was often compared to MS Dhoni. His aggressive style and clean hitting saw him become a crucial part of the Mumbai Indians squad during that season and it would not be long before he would be called up to play for India.
A lot was expected from Tiwary at that point due to the promise which he had shown during the IPL. Sadly, Tiwary has since not lived up to the hype which surrounded him in 2010. He does continue to attract franchises and many fans are still aware of his abilities with the bat.
Sadly, the batsman is not nearly as destructive as he was in 2010 and has since begun to fade away into the background.
