5 of the lowest totals recorded in India vs Sri Lanka matches

India's batting order completely surrendered to Lanka's seamers as they were bowled out for 112 runs in the first ODI of the series.

Having won the toss, Thisara Perera decided to bowl first and was soon rewarded with a handful of wickets by his pace bowlers. Indian batsmen failed to handle the Lankan seamers as none of their top-order batsmen reached the double digit mark and India struggled at 16-5.

A lone battle from MS Dhoni saved humiliation for team India as his 65 off 87 balls helped his side to cross the 100-run mark. It seemed like Virat Kohli was missed badly who had been the pillar of India's batting in recent times.

While India registered their fifth lowest total against Lanka in ODI's, let us take a quick look at some of the lowest totals recorded in the matches between India and Sri Lanka.

In a low-scoring fourth game of the Coca-Cola Champions trophy, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 98 in reply to India's 179.

India were restricted to 36-4 early on as their top-order failed to provide the start their team wanted from them. However, Ajay Jadeja's patient innings and some crucial contributions from the lower order made sure that India crossed 150. With one ball remaining, India were all out for 179 with the help of Ajay Jadeja's vital knock of 65 runs.

Defending a low total, Indian seamers did their job perfectly as they picked few much needed early wickets. Lanka's batting order failed to establish a steady partnership as Indian bowlers continued to pick wickets in quick intervals.

Sri Lanka failed to cross the 100-run mark as they were cleaned up for 98. Ajit Agarkar was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant opening spell.
