5 macho looks of cricketers in the IPL
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the grandest league of all for a reason. From the world's finest cricket, to the thrills and chills that unfold with every year that passes, it truly is cricket's biggest extravaganza
IPL 2023 happens to be the sixteenth in the tournament's history and it has been bigger and better than any gone by. Rinku Singh's incredible heist against Gujarat Titans (GT) and Arshdeep Singh shattering the middle pole into two remain the iconic moments archetypal of the league in itself.
In many ways, it truly is a Macho tournament with one toing moment after another over the years. But then, that isn’t restricted to results and performances on the field alone. A number of superstars - both Indian and overseas - have won themselves a massive fanbase on account of their Macho looks as well.
Here, we look at five of the best Macho looks in the IPL over the course of its rich history.

#1 Virat Kohli in 2015
The captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for IPL 2015, Kohli was the showstopper of the season and the pride of the nation who made fans go toing with his consistent performances, as well as his dashing looks.
His perfectly groomed beard became a trend among the youth just as he became captain of India's Test side. Couple that with his crew cut hairstyle and #YehTohBadaToingHai twirled moustache and that was easily among the most macho looks a player has sported in the IPL.
Over the years, Kohli has aced the style quotient to the 'T' and continues to remain an icon that fans look up to and go gaga over. But his look in IPL 2015 has to top the list among the lot.

#2 Sunil Narine in 2012
When Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went all out to procure the services of mystery spinner Sunil Narine, they struck gold to say the very least. The West Indian wizard won the Player of the Tournament award in IPL 2012, weaving his magic with the ball en route to his team's maiden title triumph.
It wasn't just Narine's bowling that wowed the fans though. His mohawk hairstyle became trendy and popular amongst the masses and along expected lines, fans followed suit.
Narine has sported different versions of the mohawk over the years to #StayToing. The one he sported in IPL 2012, however, was as macho a look as you get.

#3 MS Dhoni in 2012
MS Dhoni has always been toing with his hairstyles over the years. His long hair when he first sprung into the scene played a part in shaping his image, catapulting it into nearly cult status. While he chopped them well ahead of the first IPL season, he went back to sporting long hair during IPL 2012.
It wasn't as long as one associates with the young, muscular lad who struck sixes at will during the nascent stages of his international career. But there is no denying that it was an incredibly macho look that only added to the Toing moment every time he sent the ball soaring over the fence.
This was quite comfortably one of Captain Cool's best that made fans go #YehTohBadaToingHai.

#4 Kane Williamson in 2018
Kane Williamson shouldered the captaincy of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for IPL 2018 after David Warner was suspended on the back of the ball-tampering saga. Williamson duly led SRH to the final and also topped the run charts that season, turning in one consistent display after another.
What he also did with ease, was #StayToing with a crisp beard style. In fact, he took on the 'Break the Beard' challenge and trimmed it to sport it in a crisp and dapper manner. Macho, in every true sense, as the then all-format Blackcaps skipper aced it on and off the field.

#5 Chris Gayle in 2011
Chris Gayle and macho are almost synonymous. With his unique hairstyle complementing his unique batting style that saw him hoist towering sixes at will, he produced multiple #YehTohBadaToingHai moments throughout the IPL 2011 season when he joined RCB as a replacement player.
Gayle brought in his iconic swagger with him as he became a darling of the fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He truly 'Gayle'vanized the franchise and took them to the final of the season, winning the Orange Cap and the Player of the Tournament award along the way.
His long hair, coupled with the head bandana, was truly unique and befitting of the macho player that he has been over the years. He went on to maintain that in the seasons that followed, but IPL 2011 is often rendered synonymous with Gayle making all and sundry go wow.
