IPL 2024 has been quite entertaining so far. The first half of the tournament is done and dusted. Inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals are at the top of the standings with six wins from seven matches.

Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are the other three teams present in the top 4 of the points table right now. Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at the bottom of the standings after the first half of the tournament.

Like IPL 2023, all matches of IPL 2024 are happening in front of packed houses at various Indian stadiums. The broadcasters have also set up a 'Shor Meter' this year to determine the loudest cheers from fans attending the games live at the venue. Here's a look at five moments which evoked some of the loudest cheers from the live audience so far.

#5 125 dB on Shor Meter for a 6 from Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosted Kolkata Knight Riders for a match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 29. It was RCB's second home game of the season, and Virat Kohli continued his fantastic form with an unbeaten 83-run knock.

When Kohli smacked Mitchell Starc for a six in the third over of the match, the fans present at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium cheered quite loudly. The Shor Meter recorded 125 dB as the peak value of that moment.

#4 128 dB - Dinesh Karthik's 6 against Punjab Kings

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won only one match in IPL 2024 so far. It came against the Punjab Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 25. Dinesh Karthik was the hero for RCB in that game.

Karthik played a spectacular cameo of 28 from 10, hitting three fours and two sixes. The six that he hit against Arshdeep Singh on the first ball of the 20th over evoked a 128 dB cheer from the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

#3 128 dB - MS Dhoni's 4 against Delhi Capitals

Another experienced Indian wicketkeeper-batter to feature on the list is MS Dhoni. The Chennai Super Kings legend played an incredible knock of 37 runs from 16 balls in his first innings of the season against the Delhi Capitals.

When Dhoni smacked a four against Mukesh Kumar in the 17th over of the innings, the crowd in Vizag went berserk. The Shor Meter recorded peak value of 128 dB for that cheer.

#2 130 dB - MS Dhoni's entry before toss in Chennai

MS Dhoni has received an enormous amount of love from the fans in this season. Wherever he goes, fans follow him in huge numbers, wearing the yellow jersey. Ahead of the first match of the tournament between RCB and CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the crowd went crazy after seeing Dhoni enter the ground.

Even though the match hadn't started, the fans were going crazy. It resulted in a 130 dB peak value on the IPL 2024 Shor Meter.

#1 Loudest cheer of IPL 2024: 131 dB - Wankhede roars for Ajinkya Rahane's wicket

The record for the loudest cheer in the tournament belongs to Wankhede Stadium right now. During the MI vs CSK match on April 14, CSK opener Ajinkya Rahane lost his wicket cheaply. He handed a catch to Hardik Pandya off Gerald Coetzee's bowling while batting on five runs.

The Wankhede crowd broke the record for the loudest cheer with a peak value of 131 dB. However, this record could soon be broken as there are many more exciting matches coming up in IPL 2024.
