The Indian Premier League(IPL) is a golden opportunity for youngsters. Before the era of the IPL, the youngsters had to take the long route of domestic cricket to make a name for themselves. With the arrival of IPL, a lot of youngsters found an easy way to get into the spotlight. The focus had shifted towards them with the arrival of the shortest format of the game.

Over the years, the IPL has witnessed many rags-to-riches stories. A lot of players have found their way into the Indian side due to the IPL but a lot have failed too. There were a few players who knocked the doors of the selection committee but failed to enter because of their performances. On this note, let us take a look at five players who were one season wonders in the IPL.


#5 Saurabh Tiwary

Mumbai v Bangalore - 2010 Champions League Twenty20

The star batsman grabbed a few eyeballs in the under-19 world cup but failed to deliver thereafter. In the 2010 edition of the IPL, Saurabh Tiwary made a bigger name for himself. The flamboyant batsman scored 419 runs at an average of 30 and with a strike rate of 135.59 in the season.

The middle-order batsman helped the Mumbai Indians script historic wins along with his batting partner Ambati Rayadu. Tiwary helped his franchise to reach the final of the league but even his heroics weren't enough for the Mumbai Indians to lift the title. In the next two editions, the Mumbai Indians batsman suffered to make a lasting impression.

His IPL stint earned him a national call-up but he failed to deliver at the big stage. He scored 49 runs in 2 ODI innings without being dismissed. His poor form in domestic cricket resulted in his downfall. After the 2012 season of the IPL, he was neglected and found himself out of the team on most occasions.
