5 players who were unlucky to miss out on India's ODI squad against England
The Senior Selection Committee of the BCCI met today in Bengaluru to pick the squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June as well as the limited-overs series against England. They also selected the India 'A' team which will tour the Old Blighty.
One look at the ODI squad and it presents a strong picture. However, there will be a few players who will feel a bit let down especially after their performances in domestic cricket.
Here's a look at five players who could consider themselves unlucky at not having found a berth in the ODI squad:
#5 Manoj Tiwary
The Bengal batsman, who last played for India in 2015, may not have had an impactful IPL yet, but he sure racked up the runs in the Vijay Hazare trophy earlier.
328 runs in 6 matches at an average of 109.33 meant he was undeniably Bengal's best batsman in the competition.
Ambati Rayudu's selection in the ODI squad, however, would raise optimism for the right-hander as the selectors clearly don't have age as their most important requirement but back form as the main criterion.
Another good competition with the bat could well brighten his chances.
