5 players who disappointed during India's home season

While Vijay scored three centuries, he failed to cross 20 in 13 innings

India won all four series during the home season, winning 10 of the 13 matches they played and losing just one. The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli were the star performers with the bat while Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin made the ball sing to their tune.

There were several other performers who lit up the home season, including the likes of Wriddhiman Saha, Rohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav. But there were some who disappointed as well for a variety of reasons.

Whether due to fitness issues, concerns over their form or just an inability to consistently keep up the scores, here are 5 players who disappointed during India's home season:

#5 Murali Vijay

Only two players have scored more centuries and runs than Murali Vijay. But the Tamil Nadu opener still makes it into the list because of his dip in standards compared to the last few years. After averaging in the high 40s for three years since his return to the Test side in 2013, Vijay averaged just over 35 during the home season.

Although he did score three centuries and three fifties and provided some memorable moments for the Indian fans, he was unable to be consistent throughout the season and that is why his averaged dipped below 40. Through the home season, his tally included seven single-digit scores and he failed to cross 20 in 13 of his 21 innings.

While he made the most when he did cross that mark, as evident from six scores of fifty or more from eight innings in which he crossed 20, too often he was dismissed early and wasn't as consistent as he would have liked.
