The IPL is a great platform for youngsters to showcase their skills and get selected for their national teams. Since the start of the IPL, most of the senior Indian cricketers have shone for their respective franchises.

Yet, there are some successful cricketers who fared well for India in international cricket, but flopped in the IPL. Let us take a look at 5 Indian cricketers who could not replicate their international success in the Indian Premier League.

Mohammad Kaif did not get going in the IPL at all

Mohammad Kaif, India’s most athletic fielder during Ganguly’s era as a captain, did not achieve as much success in the IPL as he would have liked. Kaif was in the Rajasthan Royals ranks in 2008, following which he went on to play for the Kings XI Punjab and the Royal Challengers Bangalore but never enjoyed success at any of the franchises.

His IPL statistics read 347 runs from 34 games at a strike rate of 105, failing to get past fifty even once. Not being a big hitter, he was never really tailor-made for this format of the game. Following his retirement, he served as the fielding coach of the Gujarat Lions.
