5 Teams with the highest win percentage in the ICC World Cup
The first ever Cricket World Cup was played in the year 1975 when an ODI innings consisted of 60 overs. West Indies won the first two World Cups while India became the first Asian nation to win the World Cup when it conquered the mighty Windies in the 1983 World Cup final. The next three World Cups saw three new winners as Australia won in 1987, Pakistan achieved the trophy in 1992 while Sri Lanka won the Cup in 1996.
The Australian era commenced in the World Cups since 1999 as the Aussies won three consecutive World Cups and developed an undefeated streak. India became the first team in the history to win the World Cup on its own soil when it ended the Australian dominance in 2011. But, the men in Yellow once again won the World Cup by becoming the second team to win it on their own turf in 2015.
The next World Cup will be played in 2019 in England and Wales and the home team will be the favourites walking into the tournament. However, the English side does not have a good win/loss at the World Cups and have failed to win the World Cup even once. Here are the top five teams with the best win percentage in the ICC World Cups.
#5 West Indies - 58.57 %
West Indies rank second (along with India) when it comes to winning the ICC World Cup as they won the trophy in 1975 and 1979.
But ever since 1983, their performance at the World Cup has deteriorated and they had to play the qualifying round in order to make it to the ICC World Cup 2019. They have won 41 out of the 71 World Cup matches they have played thus far.
