#5 Clash with Pakistani troll over security in Pakistan
On August 2, 2024, Harbhajan Singh slammed Pakistani troll Farid Khan after being mocked for stating that Pakistan was unsafe for cricketers. Khan posted screenshots from a 2006 Test match where Shahid Afridi hit Singh for four consecutive sixes, implying Singh’s reluctance to visit Pakistan stemmed from fear.
Harbhajan retorted, sharing an image of the 2009 terror attack on Sri Lankan players in Lahore:
“No not for this. Cricket Mai Jeet har lagi rehti hai (Winning and losing is part of cricket). I will tell u the real problem is this.
He added:
“Now get the F out of here. F ka Matlab samaj aa gya hoga ya samjau? (Did you understand the meaning of the letter F or do I need to explain). F means your name. Please don’t think what you are thinking the meaning of F. You know what I mean. Peace.”
#4 Blasting a Pakistani journalist over Dhoni-Rizwan comparison
Harbhajan Singh strongly criticized Pakistani journalist Farid Khan for comparing Mohammad Rizwan to MS Dhoni.
Khan posted on X, formerly Twitter, asking:
"MS Dhoni or Mohammad Rizwan? Who is better? Tell me honestly."
Singh responded sharply:
“What r u (sic) smoking nowadays??? What a silly question to ask. Bhaiyo isko batao (Brothers tell him). DHONI bhut aage hai RIZWAN se (Dhoni is far ahead of Rizwan). Even if u will ask Rizwan he will give u an honest answer for this. I like Rizwan, he is good player who always plays with intent..but this comparison is wrong. DHONI No. 1 even today in world cricket. None better thn him behind stumps.”
#3 Defending his role as Rajya Sabha MP
Accused of wasting public money by doing commentary instead of fulfilling his MP duties, Harbhajan Singh hit back at a Twitter user.
Singh responded:
“How am I wasting public’s money? Please explain brother? Whatever money any MP gets it goes to DC of the district and each penny goes for the benefits of our people. I am doing the best I can to help our people and will continue to do so. I don’t need any recognitions for the work has been done in different villages of Punjab with MP funds. And I didn’t ask for any POSITION. God has been kind I made my own position and name by playing for INDIA.”
#2 Shutting down a user asking him to 'retire with grace'
When a Twitter user named Noel Smith bluntly told Harbhajan to retire gracefully, Singh responded fiercely.
Smith tweeted:
“As the saying goes "U can't teach an old dog new tricks"Bhajji ur best days r over realise it n call it a day.Retire with grace from international cricket.Dont make a fool of iurself like some of ur predecessors.is all I can say..”
Harbhajan replied:
“Old dog like u can only bark..so plz continue to do that. This is what u have learnt I think all ur life..you have already lost the battle coz u have given up on learning new things. Everyday there is new thing to learn. Provided we want to learn. Don't teach others ur ways.”
#1 Responding to a fan questioning his judgment
Harbhajan Singh urged fans to stop pitting players against each other after being criticized for supporting Ishan Kishan despite his poor performance. A fan questioned Singh’s judgment for backing Kishan over KL Rahul.
Harbhajan responded:
“Have some patience with him. He will show you all what he is capable of. Yes KL is fantastic too.. Good thing is they both play for India. Bad thing is u guys making it looks like they are opponents.. KL at open brilliant but at no 5 he is a finisher what team is looking for (sic.).”
