5 top all-rounders to watch out for in Delhi Premier League 2024

The inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League is set to commence on August 17, 2024, with the final game scheduled for September 8, 2024. A total of 33 matches will be played between six teams at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The six teams set to feature in the tournament are the South Delhi Superstarz, East Delhi Riders, Central Delhi Kings, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions, and Purani Dilli 6.

The tournament will provide a great platform for local Delhi players to showcase their talent and play alongside Indian international stars like Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini, and others who have made their names in the Indian Premier League.

As fans are set to witness a battle between six teams, in this article, we will look at five top all-rounders to watch out for in the Delhi Premier League 2024.


#1 Jonty Sidhu

Jonty Sidhu, the 26-year-old all-rounder, will represent the Central Delhi Kings in the first season of the Delhi Premier League. The left-handed batter has only played one T20 game against Puducherry in 2021. He scored 21 off 12 balls and picked up two wickets in the game.

Jonty has a brilliant first-class record, aggregating 1272 runs in 22 games at an average of 45.42. The all-rounder will be looking to create an impact for the Central Kings, which also have the likes of Yash Dhull.


#2 Kshitiz Sharma

Kshitiz Sharma is set to play for the North Delhi Strikers. The 34-year-old was bought by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2018 auction but didn’t get a game that season.

The right-handed batter has played in 25 T20s, smashing 385 runs, including three fifties. He also has five wickets to his name.

Kshitiz has also played 14 first-class and 22 List-A games. The all-rounder will be looking to bring his A-game to the tournament and bring glory to the North Delhi Strikers.


#3 Lalit Yadav

All-rounder Lalit Yadav will represent Purani Dilli 6 in the Delhi Premier League 2024. The Delhi Capitals player has played in 27 IPL games, scoring 305 runs while picking up 10 wickets.

Overall, the right-handed batter has played in 82 T20s and has 1077 runs to his name, including two fifties. The 27-year-old has taken 53 wickets as well. Having a wealth of experience in T20s, the Purani Dilli 6 team will be hoping Lalit plays a crucial role for them in the coming season.


#4 Hrithik Shokeen

Hrithik Shokeen will be seen playing for the West Delhi Lions. The 23-year-old played 13 games for the Mumbai Indians across two seasons (2022 and 2023), scoring 66 runs and taking five wickets. Overall, the young all-rounder has played in 18 T20s.

Hrithik has a decent first-class record, having picked up 30 wickets in 10 games. He has also scored 386 runs at an average of 32.16.

The all-rounder will now be looking to create an impact in the short format of the game. His performance in the Delhi Premier League might pave the way for his comeback in the IPL.


#5 Himmat Singh

The last player on the list is East Delhi Riders' Himmat Singh. The right-handed batter was the vice-captain of the Delhi team for the 2023–24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 27-year-old was bought by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for IPL 2019 but didn’t get a game.

Himmat has shown his talent in domestic cricket. In 47 T20s, he has scored 720 runs. Meanwhile, the Delhi cricketer has amassed 1770 runs in 51 List-A games at an average of 50.57, including six centuries. Himmat will be looking to show his all-round skills in the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League to get an IPL contract for the next year.
