7 Indian Players who played in 2013 Champions Trophy but won't play in 2017
The Indian Champions Trophy squad for the 2017 edition was announced on Monday and the sqaud consisted of the usual suspects as the selected banked on experience over glamour in their quest to defending their title in England.
7 members from the team that won in 2013 do not feature in the 2017 squad. We look at those players here:
7.R Vinay Kumar
The Karnataka seamer was picked in the squad on the back of a good 2013 IPL season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, where in 16 matches he picked up 23 wickets, albeit at a high economy rate of 8.19.
The speedster had featured in the Indian limited-overs scheme of things in some of the tours in the previous 15 months, having travelled with the team to Australia where he made his Test debut and also played a bigger role in the limited-overs leg of that tour.
Although he didn’t get a game in the competition, he can say that he was part of the setup that won the title in England and later featured in the home ODI series against Australia as well, which too India won.
However, he proved extremely expensive in the deciding game of that series and ever since then, has not found a place in the Indian setup, in any of the three formats.
