7 reasons why RCB may win IPL 2019
IPL, the most competitive T20 cricket league of the world, is set to light up the stage once again in 2019. It's been a tough job to be a RCB fan after 11 years of disappointment and heartbreaks.
RCB have always had a star-studded lineup in each and every season of IPL but still, they haven't been able to lift the trophy in previous 11 editions. But after the 2019 auction, it seems the team has finally found the right balance and will be strong title contenders this season.
Here are 7 reasons why RCB may win this year's IPL.
#7 Legends in support staff
We all know coaches and support staff play a crucial role in a team's success - from laying down strategies for matches to team selection.
RCB have appointed Gary Kirsten as the batting coach and mentor this year and the recently retired Ashish Nehra as the head coach. These two will definitely help the team to bridge the gap between going all the way and clinching the elusive trophy.
#6 X-factors
There are a number of new and old exciting players in the team this year, who could prove to be the X factor for this side.
Every limited over team aspires to have a wrist spinner in their side and RCB have one of the best wrist spinners in their ranks in the form Yuzvendra Chahal.
The new signings Shivam Dube and Devdutt Padikkal could prove to be a surprise package.
#5 Right balance in the squad
This season it seems like RCB finally got their auction plan right. They spent wisely and have created a good mix of talent and experience.
They have a very good set of all-rounders after acquiring Marcus Stoinis from Kings XI Punjab and buying Shivam Dube in the auction.
They also have the likes of De Grandhomme, Moeen Ali, Coulter Nile, Pawan Negi and Washington Sundar. As we all know all-rounders are the key for any good team and with these players as all-rounders, RCB have the right balance which they've been searching for in the previous seasons.
#4 Power Batting
Batting has never been an issue for RCB. They've had one the best batting sides in previous years. They are known for their ruthless and fearless batting.
This time around also they have the right mix of Indian batsmen and foreign batsmen. Their batting looks solid as ever.
#3 Bench strength
Unlike the last few years, they didn't run after the star names but looked for players who could provide stability to their side.
IPL is a long tournament, very tightly packed with 14 league matches and playoffs to be played in less than a couple of months, so unlike last few years they are not dependent on their core of 4-5 star players and have one of the best bench strength of the season. Also with world cup set to begin after IPL, lots of international players will go back to their country for preparation of the world cup. RCB have substitutes for almost every position and this will boost their chances of winning IPL 2019.
#2 Variety in bowling
RCB in last few years have invested so much in their batting that they didn't have enough good bowlers. But this time around they have lots of variety in their bowling. So far they've always believed in scoring as many runs as possible to win but the strategy hasn't worked so far.
RCB have one of the most versatile bowling lineups of the tournament this season. From Chahal, Sundar in spinners to Southee, Umesh, Siraj, Coulter Nile as fast bowlers. Their bowling department looks quite solid.
#1 Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batsmen the game of cricket has ever seen. He is very passionate about the game and one trophy which has eluded him till now is the IPL trophy.
He's been a part of the RCB's squad from the start and desperately wants to win the cup. Kohli also has matured as a captain now as we saw in the Australian series and is at the peak of his career for quite some time. It's about time he wins the IPL cup for RCB.
