Aaron Finch and Matthew Wade fined for showing dissent during Matador One Day Cup match
Victorian skipper Matthew Wade and opening batsman Aaron Finch, both members of the current Australian ODI team, have been fined for using abusive language during a Matador One-Day Cup match, as a result breaching Cricket Australia's Code of Behaviour in a clash against South Australia in Bankstown, as reported by IANS.
The Bushrangers duo were each reported on Friday under Article 2.1.4 -- Using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting during a match, while Finch was also cited for breaching Article 2.1.3 -- Showing dissent at an umpire's decision, after he was dismissed in Victoria's batting innings.
Finch was unhappy after being given out lbw off the bowling of Daniel Worrall early in the run chase, while Wade was visibly frustrated after a big mix-up with non-striker Dan Christian that ended in a run-out in the shock loss to the West End Redbacks.
Both cricketers were guilty of having outbursts after being given out during the match – Finch, for showing dissent to the umpire’s decision, and Wade for losing his temper after a mix-up with his batting partner got him run out.
While Wade was fined 50 percent of his match fee, Finch was fined 70 percent of his match fee.
Both players admitted to their respective offences to match referee Stephen Bernard and accepted the penalty, so no hearing was required.
Wade and Finch are the sixth and seventh players to be sanctioned during this Matador Cup, joining teammate James Pattinson, WA duo Shaun Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile, Queensland's Ben Cutting and South Australia's Alex Ross.
