ACC Premier League: Day 4 - Nepal beat Hong Kong
Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 7 wickets in an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Premier League match at the Bayuemas Oval Pandamaran, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Put into bat first by Nepal, Hong Kong were all out for 181 runs in 41.5 overs, despite opener Irfan Ahmed’s 115-ball 106. Sompal Kami was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal grabbing 4 Hong Kong wickets, while Basanta Regmi took 3 wickets and youngster Aarif Sheikh took two wickets to restrict the opposition to a below-par total.
The target was revised to 144 runs in 38 overs after the heavy downpour which interrupted the match.
In reply, both the Nepal opening batsmen got the team off to a decent start with Naresh Budayair scoring 41 runs and Subash Pyakurel scoring 16 runs. Vice captain Gyanendra Malla scored 15 runs, while Skipper Parash Khadka lead by example by scoring a 43* to take the team past the finishing line in 34.1 overs.
In the other matches on day 4, UAE defeated hosts Malaysia by 6 wickets, while Afghanistan defeated Oman by 5 wickets.
With one more match to go, Afghanistan and Nepal occupy the first two spots respectively, and they are scheduled to play the last match of the tournament.
