ACC Premier League: Nepal to take on UAE in opener

Nepal cricketer Basant Regmi (2R) celebrates with his teammate Gyanendra Malla (R) after the dismissal of the unseen Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal during the ICC Twenty20 World Cup sixth qualifying cricket match between Bangladesh and Nepal at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on March 18, 2014.

Nepal will play the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its opening match of the ACC Premier League, which is scheduled to be played between May 1-7, 2014, in Malaysia. Asian Cricket Council has released the fixtures of the tournament.

Nepal, UAE, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Oman are set to compete in the first edition of the ACC Premier League, which is an improved version of the ACC Trophy.

After facing the UAE in the opener, Nepal will take on Malaysia on May 2, Oman on May 4, Hong Kong on May 5 and Afghanistan on May 7.

After the impressive performances at the World T20 in Bangladesh, where they shocked the hosts and eased past Hong Kong, this is the first international tournament Nepal will be participating.

The tournament will be played in the ODI format, and four top teams will qualify for the ACC Championship, the first two-day tournament to be organized by ACC in UAE in December 2014.
