The Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) named outgoing president of the Media Workers Association of Grenada (MWAG), Rawle Titus, as its representative to the Board of Directors of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

ACM said Thursday that a special meeting of the WICB in November last year, acknowledged the regional media as a key stakeholder and allowed for a position on its Board of Directors, reports CMC.

“As a member of the WICB Board of Directors, ACM has rights to sit in and contribute to discussions during meetings but it does not have a vote,” the regional media group said.

ACM general secretary, Nicole Best, said ACM is pleased that the WICB has recognised the regional media and is prepared to acknowledge their contributions to the development of cricket in the region not only through the coverage of games.

“It has always been said that cricket is the vehicle that can bring the region together and it is good to see that the regional cricketing body has sought to bring the media on board to observe and contribute to the decision making process.”

“Clearly it is an indication that the Board understands the value of the regional media in ensuring their decisions and messages reach the targeted groups and there is an eventual buy-in,” Best added.

Titus, an award-winning journalist of over 25 years experience, covers regional and international sports for a number of media outlets including the Barbados-based Caribbean media Corporation (CMC).
