IPL 2018: Adam Milne replaces Pat Cummins for Mumbai Indians

New Zealand v Pakistan - 2nd T20
Milne will be playing his third IPL

Mumbai Indians have roped in Kiwi pacer Adam Milne as a replacement for the injured Pat Cummins who was ruled out of the tournament due to a bone oedema in his vertebrae which he sustained during the fourth Test against South Africa.

There hasn't been any official notice from Mumbai Indians regarding Milne being Cummins' replacement but he has already joined the squad and trained with the rest of the team at the Wankhede Stadium ahead of their clash against Delhi Daredevils.

Cummins was bought by Mumbai Indians for a price of INR 540 lakh. Milne, meanwhile, is MI's second replacement pacer. The first was another New Zealander, Mitchell McClenaghan, who replaced another Aussie Jason Behrendorff.

Milne will join the strong pace attack of the Mumbai Indians which comprises Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman and Mitchell McClenaghan. This will be Milne's third IPL, having previously played for RCB in the previous two IPL seasons.

Milne took 4 wickets across both seasons, at an average of 44.25 and an economy of 9.83. Milne’s IPL numbers may not be very good but he has a pretty decent T20 record with 83 wickets under his belt at an average of 23.21 and at an economy of 7.72. His ability to bowl at speeds of above 150 kph also makes him a formidable pacer. Hence, his signing is a pretty clever move by Mumbai Indians.

However, it will be very, very difficult for Milne to seal a spot in the playing XI as MI already have a pretty strong bowling department. Whether he gets a chance to play for MI or not, only time will tell.
