Afghanistan topples records in 2nd T20I against Ireland
Afghanistan created many records in the 2nd T20I match against Ireland at Dehradun on Saturday. It was an amazing batting display by Afghanistan batsmen as they surpassed Australia’s score of 263 for 3 in 20 overs, which they scored against Sri Lanka at Colombo in 2016.
They also created a new record for the highest opening partnership of 236 runs. Usman Ghani and Zazai surpassed the record of Aaron Finch and Darcy Short (223 runs), which they scored against Zimbabwe.
With his 162 runs, Zazai also created a record for the second highest individual T20I score. The record for highest individual score in a T20I innings still belongs to Aaron Finch, who scored 172 runs against Zimbabwe in 2018.
Afghanistan continued their impressive run in T20I cricket as they sealed the series with an 84-run win the 2nd T20I. It was an amazing batting performance by Afghanistan batsmen who showed their class and created many T20I records.
Afghanistan opener Hazratullah Zazai also posted the third fastest century in T20I cricket. David Miller and Rohit Sharma hold the record for the fastest T20I century as the duo reached their respective triple-digit mark in just 35 balls. He also helped Afghanistan post the highest total in T20I history.
Zazai also posted the record for most sixes in an individual T20I innings. He hit 16 sixes to surpass Aaron Finch's record of 14 sixes against England in 2013.
It was a masterclass from Zazai, who played with aggressive and attitude to decimate the Ireland bowlers with his power hitting. Now with the World Cup 2019 coming up, Zazai is definitely a player to watch out for.
