Ajinkya Rahane decision was a tough one at crucial time - MS Dhoni

Ajinkya Rahane was adjudged lbw despite getting an inside edge

Though team India fought bravely in the 1st Test at Auckland, they failed to achieve victory despite getting so close to the target.

After a long time, Indian bowlers were able to strike well and even opener Shikhar Dhawan put in a good show. But the target proved to be too much in the end, as India fell short by 40 runs. Some controversial umpiring decisions on Day 4 also made things difficult for Team India.

After the match, MS Dhoni said, “The bowlers bowled fantastically well to get us back. One of the best that I have seen our bowlers bowl especially on a good wicket. They kept it tight and bowled wicket-taking deliveries at the same time. They need to continue doing that. When you go and not look at what you want to achieve at the end, you can slowly graduate into bigger goals.”

He added, “I don’t think we batted really well in the first innings. In the second innings, quiet a few of our batmen batted really well. We had few unlucky wickets. Ajinkya’s decision was a tough one at a very crucial time.”

MS Dhoni might be feeling that despite the loss, India has shown their character.
