Ajinkya Rahane opens up to fans in Facebook Q&A session
Ajinkya Rahane, the graceful Indian batsman opened up to the fans in a facebook Q&A session on the Indian Cricket Team’s official facebook page.
Rahane is currently with the Indian national team who are preparing for the third test of the four match test series against South Africa to be played in Nagpur from 25 November. The batsman touched all the aspects of his cricketing life as well as personal life in the conversation with the fans. Here are some of the highlights from the Q&A session:
The Mumbai-based player was asked straight up about his brilliant close-in fielding and how he manages to maintain the level; to which Rahane replied that it requires a lot of hard work and the communication between the players and coaches should be impeccable. He revealed that the players are made to take 50-100 catches every day, which is the main reason behind the improved fielding performances of the Indian team.
We all know that Rahane is one of the best fielders in the world right now and he considers the one-handed catch he took to dismiss Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara off Ravichandran Ashwin’s ball as his best ever catch. He also revealed that he really likes fielding in the slips as it is one of the most challenging positions to field on.
Most entertaining teammates, favourite ground, alternate career
When quizzed by a fan about which former Indian batsmen he would like to bat with, he took the name of batting greats Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
The inception of day-night test matches is being talked about a lot in the cricketing world and Rahane was asked to express his feelings about the latest format. The batsman believes he is very open to the idea and such ideas can only take the game of cricket forward. However, he stated that the players will take some time to adjust to the format, but eventually it will help in entertaining the crowd and the fans.
The fans asked him as to who is the most entertaining player of the current bunch of Indian cricketers and Rahane named two players, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan as the most entertaining players both inside and outside the field.
Rahane named Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as his favorite in the country and The Lord’s and Melbourne Cricket Ground as his favorite test venues outside the nation. The batsman has scored centuries on both the aforementioned venues and naturally considers them as his favorite.
The Rajasthan Royals player touched various non-cricketing topics as well, like when asked what career he would have chosen if not cricket, he replied that he would have loved to be in the Air Force.
Rahane wants Amir Khan to play his part if a biopic will be made on him in the future.
The forever composed cricketer said that he does not get angry and he doesn’t even remember the last time he felt anger. Rahane also added that he likes to express his rage through batting and feels he speaks very less off the field and would want to express himself more off the field.
