Ajit Agarkar set to represent India in Corporate Golf
The 38-year-old former India international, Ajit Agarkar has once again made the headlines after having won the India Finals of BMR World Corporate Golf Challenge in Bengaluru yesterday. Ajit Agarkar along with his teammate Shabbir Rawjee had played off handicaps 17 and 19 respectively to clinch the prestigious tournament with a total of 62 Stableford points.
The Bengaluru-based pair of Manohar Reddy and Shiva Reddy finished second with 56 Stableford points in the tournament which was contested by 600 corporate executives who were representing 300 teams. World Corporate Golf Challenge is the biggest international corporate golf event where more than 7500 corporate executives from 40 countries take part.
India first participated in the World Corporate Golf Challenge back in 1999. Incidentally, the Indian duo of Shashidhar Reddy and Sonam Chugh from Hyderabad are the current defending champions after having won the previous edition of the competition last year in Portugal.
A total of two teams from each of the three Indian cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru had participated in the National Finals. Pawan Puri and his teammate Arunjit Sodhi along with Deepit Singh and Vedant Jhaver were the four national finalists in the Indian edition of the BMR World Corporate Golf Challenge.
Ajit Agarkar and his teammate Shabbir Rawjee along with the Akshay Puri and Tarun Bali had represented Mumbai at the national finals. Another former India international, Sujit Somasunder along with his teammate Raj Arasu and the duo of Manohar Reddy Baddam and Siva Reddy were Bengaluru’s best bet at the national finals.

Mukesh Butani, the chairman of BMR Advisors who was a part felicitation ceremony said, “Many congratulations to the winning team. I think this is a great moment for us, as a former Indian cricketer will now represent corporate India at the 22nd Annual World Corporate Golf Challenge in Cascais, Portugal.”
“This tournament saw some of the best corporate czars vying to be triumphant at the national level, celebrating sportsmanship and healthy competition. Wishing the team of Ajit Agarkar and Shabbir Rawjee the best and hope they are able to defend the title that India presently holds,” he added.
Ajit Agarkar had represented India in more than 200 international matches since his (ODI) debut against Australia in April 1998 and picked up over 300 wickets in Tests and ODIs combined.
