Alastair Cook believes that England are not yet a great Test side

England Captain Alastair Cook

The England captain Alastair Cook believes that they are not yet a great Test match team, and had a while to go before they could claim the tag.

The English team have had a great run in the recent past and have also managed to retain the Ashes for a third consecutive term.

Cook has said that greatness of a side could only be judged in time, because great sides were able to win for long periods of time and against all oppositions.

“It’s not for us to judge,” he said.

“Look back in a generation’s time. As a side we have a huge amount of work to do.

“You can always get better. We have had some good results but I am not sure that good results over a short period of time makes you are a great team.” said Cook, as reported by Yahoo.

There is no doubt that England have had a great run and they can give their credentials even more of a boost by beating Australia in the upcoming Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street. England have an all win record at the ground having won all of the four Tests played there.

England will be playing a return Test series in Australia early next year, where they will be gunning for a second successive series win. This is a feat that was last accomplished only in the 1950′s. For some more articles related to Alastair Cook read here.
