Alex Hales and Eoin Morgan all set to return for series against India

Alex Hales and Eoin Morgan are set to return for the India tour

England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan and hard-hitting batsman Alex Hales are all set to return for the series versus India. After the end of the 5-Test match series England will feature in 3 One-Dayers and 3 T20Is on the tour.

The ODI series will begin from January 15 at Pune after the winter break. A few weeks back both Hales and Morgan had chosen not to travel to Bangladesh citing security reasons.

The back out had caused a major uproar and critics said they should not be allowed to play in the India tour too but the England and Wales cricket board director, Andrew Strauss has quashed such speculations saying they had been given the option to pull out from the tour.

Strauss had also earlier said that their decision would not impact any other tours in the future and the director has stuck by his words.

“It was a difficult process leading into the Bangladesh tour, and we told the players there wouldn’t be any recriminations for pulling out,” Strauss said.

Strauss also said that Eoin Morgan had been an integral part of the English limited overs side which has put in some good performances in the recent past. In the World T20 held earlier this year they made it to the finals but then lost a thriller against the West Indies.

“I stand by what I said, and there is every reason to expect Eoin Morgan will come back in as captain against India. He’s done a great job with the one-day team over the last 18 months, and it has been a phenomenal transformation. He has to take a lot of credit for that, and we look forward to him continuing that,” Andrew Strauss added.

When Morgan decided not to travel to Bangladesh, Jos Buttler had to fill in his shoes as he was given captaincy responsibilities. The youngster was pretty good and helped his side win the series 2-1. It was under his leadership that England ended Bangladesh’s long streak of unbeaten home series wins.

The return of the pair will surely boost the England time who haven’t had the best of fortunes in the ongoing Test series. They have lost two of the three games played and drawn one. They, however, still have two more Tests to go with the next one at Mumbai which begins from December 8.
