Alex Hales and Rilee Rossouw became the third pair to score centuries in a T20 innings
Rilee Rossouw and Alex Hales became the third pair in T20 history to score centuries in an innings. Also, they became the first pair in BPL history to achieve this landmark. The first pairs to reach this landmark in T20s were Hamish Marshall and Kevin O'Brien, who were playing for Gloucestershire against Middlesex on 26 June 2011 in English T20 league.
The second pairs were Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, who were playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Gujarat Lions on 14 May 2016 in Indian Premier League.
Rangpur lost their first wicket at the score of six as Chris Gayle was dismissed for just 2 runs in 6 balls. But, Rossouw and Hales had some other plans. They forged a partnership of 174 for the second wicket. It is the highest partnership in BPL 2019 and third highest partnership in the BPL history.
Alex Hales scored 100 runs in 48 balls, which included 11 fours and five sixes. He was dismissed in the 15th over when Nihaduzzaman caught him off Sikandar Raza. Rilee Rossouw, on the other hand, scored an unbeaten 100 off 51 balls, which included eight fours and six sixes.
Mashrafe Mortaza was the key performer with the ball as he picked up three wickets. Yasir Ali scored 78 runs in 48 balls, which included six fours and three sixes. Unfortunately, he failed to convert it into a hundred as AB de Villers caught him off Mortaza.
Vikings' skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored 22 off 11 and was dismissed leg before by Nazmul Islam. Rest of the batsmen failed to make a sizeable contribution. As a result, Riders won the game by 72 runs. Alex Hales was declared the Player of the Match for his quickfire century.
