Alex Hales forced to wear Chris Woakes' shirt after forgetting to wash his own in 1st T20 vs South Africa
27-year-old Alex Hales’ forgetfulness has been laid open for the world to see, played out on live TV on Friday during England’s 1st T20 match against South Africa at Cape Town. He was seen walking out to bat with a shirt with a tape pasted on the name and number at the back.
Chris Woakes, who was not in the playing XI on Friday, lent his shirt to the irresponsible player, who it turned out had not washed his own shirt. However, Hales could change into his own jersey after the dismissal of his opening partner Jason Roy.
His eventful stay at the crease, which included a change of costume, came to an end in the 7th over, when he was caught on 27 by JP Duminy.
England teammate James Taylor, who is not part of the England T20 squad, tweeted his amusement at the incident:
