The Scotland cricket team's tour of Oman got off to a surreal start as they clinched a massive win. Hosts Oman could only manage 24 as they were bundled out in mere 17.1 overs. 33-year-old Khawar Ali top-scored in an otherwise forgettable affair at Al Amarat. He turned out to be the lone batter to hit a boundary for Oman. Ruaidhri Smith and Adrian Neil bagged four wickets each for Scotland while Alasdair Evans scalped two sticks.

Scotland come out on top against hapless Oman

To Oman's relief, the ongoing series isn't an official one otherwise the visitor's win with 280 balls to spare would have gone down the record books as the biggest margin of victory by balls remaining. Oman is yet to achieve an ODI status and therefore this will be recorded as a List A match.

Oman lost opener Jatinder Singh in the very first over, and from there on the visitors didn't let them sniff a recovery. TK Bhandari was next to go in the second over and by the end of fifth over, Oman's scorecard read 8/4.

Clinical Scotland wraps up the one-sided affair

It took Scotland just over 3 overs to wrap up the one-sided contest. Openers MH Cross and KJ Coetzer stayed unbeaten to guide their ship home. Cross hit a boundary and scored 10* while Coetzer hit three boundaries and got to 16 to chase down the target.

Oman will look to swallow the bitter pill and comeback strong. Facing a side as good as Scotland will give them the exposure as they are still finding their feet. Moving to the victorious side,Scotland's skipper Coetzer will be happy for the manner in which his side performed in the first game. They will look to continue the momentum and keep executing their plans to perfection.

Brief Scores:

Oman: 24 (Khawar Ali 15; Smith 4/8)

Scotland: 26/0 (Coetzer 16; Kaleemullah 0/7)
