Amit Mishra makes a comeback as BCCI announce 15-member squad for SL Tests

Mishra is back in Test colours

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra has made a comeback to the Test team for the series against Sri Lanka next month. The 32-year-old leggie last played a Test match in August 2011 against England at The Oval.

As reported yesterday, the selectors had to pick a third spinner for the series since it will be played on wickets that are expected to spin. Harbhajan Singh has sealed his spot for now after a decent outing against Bangladesh in the one-off Test match.

Karn Sharma is yet to recover completely from his injury and hence the selectors didn‘t take chances with him. With Ravindra Jadeja out of contention and Axar Patel still finding his feet in limited overs cricket, the choice had to be taken between the experienced duo of Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha.

There were also talks of the selectors naming a backup keeper for Saha who has taken over from the recently retired MS Dhoni. But the selectors decided to send just 15 players. Lokesh Rahul also makes a comeback after missing out on the Bangladesh match due to illness.

Full squad: Virat Kohli (C), Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Varun Aaron and Amit Mishra.
