Amit Mishra thinks he bowls better now

Amit Mishra included in Indian squad for Sri Lanka tour

Amit Mishra has got a call for Indian Test team after a gap of four years. He last played Test in 2011 against England team at the Oval.

He believes that a lot of experience has been added to his profile compared to the last time.

"No doubt I have more experience now, I have more experience of [assessing] how to bowl, how the partnership is going, how the wicket is, which batsman is playing how,” Mishra was quoted saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"My bowling has improved along those lines, and my thinking has improved. I feel I have made the improvement I had needed to make."

Speaking about the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, he said Lanka will be a challenge as their players know how to spin.

"It will be a tough tour, the Sri Lankan players, whoever is there, they are good against spin, and the pitches are good for batting."

Pakisan’s Yasir Shah picked 24 wickets in a recently concluded three-Test match series against Sri Lanka. Keeping this in mind, Indian selectors have brought in Mishra, but Mishra commented that Yasir’s performance doesn’t give him confidence.

"See, someone [else] performing or not performing doesn't boost my confidence. I have always been confident about my bowling, I am bowling well and performing well, and I have confidence from that. But it is important to go there and adapt quickly to the conditions," he told the website.

The leg-spinner has played ODI matches under skipper Virat Kohli command before and now he’s again looking forward to Kohli’s Test captaincy in Sri Lanka.

"He backs all the players, he talks to them, and I feel he will keep doing well in the matches to come. He has always supported me, and I'm sure he will continue supporting me when we go there. That's his nature. He always backs his players."

Besides Mishra, Harbhajan Singh and R Ashwin are the two spinners who have been selected for the Sri Lanka series. Both Bhajji and Ashwin played in India’s recent Test encounter in Bangladesh as they were the first choice of the selectors. Mishra might have to struggle for his place in playing XI. When asked about the same, he told that he is not worried about the place in team.

"I'm in the side, so if I get the opportunity, I'll give my best, I'm not thinking about that. I'm happy I am making a comeback to the Indian side. I will just go there and give my best."
