Answers to "Ashes Quiz - Batsmen"
England and Australia will face-off on July 10 for the first Test of the 2013 Ashes in Trent Bridge, Nottingham, England. Keeping that in mind, we posted a quiz about batsmen in Ashes history. Here are the answers:
01. Matthew Hayden – 197 & 103 at Brisbane, 2002.
02. Archie Jackson is the youngest batsman to score a century in Ashes at age of 19 years and 39 days. He scored 164 at Adelaide in 1929.
03. Sir Jack Hobbs is the oldest batsman to score a century in Ashes at age of 46 years and 93 days. He scored 142 at Melbourne in 1929.
04. Mark Waugh – 99 at Lord’s 1993.
05. Matthew Hayden hit the winning runs in the fifth and final match of 2006/07 Ashes at Sydney as the Aussies completed a 5-0 victory.
06. Sir Donald Bradman has scored 19 hundreds in Ashes history – the most.
07. Sir Len Hutton of England’s 364 at The Oval in 1938 is the highest individual innings score in Ashes history.
08. Syd Gregory of Australia with 11 ducks holds the record for most ducks in Ashes history.
09. Five triple centuries have been scored in Ashes history. Don Bradman scored two (334 & 304), Len Hutton (364), Bob Simpson (311) and Bob Cowper (307).
10. Herbert Sutcliffe and Wally Hammond are the other two batsmen to score four hundreds in an Ashes series.
