“@AnushkaSharma, keep the surname” - Rohit Sharma’s wish on Virat Kohli’s marriage day goes viral on their 7th anniversary
India cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma are celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary on Wednesday, December 11. On the special occasion, an old tweet from Rohit Sharma congratulating the couple has gone viral.
After years of dating, Kohli and Anushka tied the knot on December 11, 2017, at a private estate in Tuscany, Italy. They now have two children: a daughter, Vamika, born on January 11, 2021, and a son, Akaay, born on February 15, 2023.
On Wednesday, as the couple celebrate their seventh anniversary, Rohit's tweet congratulating them on their marriage in 2017 went viral. He wrote:
“Congratulations you two! @imVkohli, I’ll share the husband handbook with you. @AnushkaSharma, keep the surname."
Rohit presumably referred to the 'husband handbook,' as the Mumbai cricketer married Ritika Sajdeh two years earlier, in 2015.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli responded to the tweet on December 19, writing:
“Haha thanks Rohit, and please do share the Double Hundred Handbook as well.”
By this time, Rohit had scored three double centuries in ODI cricket, with his most recent one coming on December 13, 2017, when he blasted an unbeaten 208 off 153 balls, including 13 boundaries and 12 sixes against Sri Lanka in Mohali.
“She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes” - When Virat Kohli praised Anushka Sharma after scoring a century in the first 2024-25 BGT Test
The Delhi-born cricketer was dismissed for just five runs in the first innings of the first 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth. However, he made a remarkable comeback in the second innings, scoring an unbeaten 100, which marked his 30th Test century and 81st in international cricket.
After India's innings, he praised his wife Anushka while speaking to the broadcaster, saying (via The Indian Express):
“Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes. Knows what goes on in the head when you're not performing well. I'm not a guy who hangs around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for the country.”
The visitors were exceptional, securing a dominant 295-run victory. However, fortunes shifted in the second game, with the 36-year-old managing only 18 runs across two innings as India faced a heavy 10-wicket defeat.
Virat Kohli will return to action when India take on Australia in the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting on Saturday, December 14, in Brisbane.
