Arvind Kejriwal alleges Delhi cricket official demanded sexual favours for selection in team
Delhi Chief Minister muddled the waters surrounding the DDCA controversy even further with his accusations on Tuesday, where he claimed that the wife of a senior journalist had been asked for sexual favours in return for selection of their son into the Delhi cricket team. This is an astounding claim considering the success Delhi have enjoyed in cricket in recent years.
There has been a furious row over the running of the Delhi cricket board over the last few months, something that has snowballed into a political crisis for BJP, the ruling party, because most of the accusations are being thrown at the party’s senior leader Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who is the former President of the DDCA.
Kejriwal, who is also locked in a battle with the BJP, has now claimed that there has been an ongoing sex racket in the Delhi cricket team as well.
"A senior journalist came to me and said his wife was asked to come for sex in return for selection of his son in the cricket team," he said in an interview, while not naming the journalist.
Kejriwal also said that "apart from the financial irregularities, there were other major wrong things happening including the sex racket".
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should decide "whether to make DDCA inquiry null and void to protect (Finance Minister) Arun Jaitley".
Jaitley was president of the DDCA between 1999-2013, a period which saw several Delhi cricketers donning the India shirt – Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and others, but it now seems there was a lot going on in Delhi cricket for the past few years than what met the eye.
