Ashes 2015, 3rd Test: Steven Finn's five put England in command

Finn rips through Australia on Day 2

England find themselves in the driver's seat after Steven Finn's five-wicket haul demolished Australia's batting line-up on the Day 2 of third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

The home team started the day on 133 for 3 and were trailing by 3 runs. Mitchell Johnson started the day with two early blows and soon England were in trouble. After Joe Root got out after scoring 63 runs, it was Moeen Ali and Stuart Broad's 8th wicket partnership of 87 runs that saved the England's ship.

Ali scored 59 and Broad added 31 as England made 281 in their first innings. Australia's poor batting performance continued as they kept losing wickets continuously from the start of their second innings.

David Warner played an entertaining knock of 77 runs off just 62 balls, but wickets kept falling on the other end. Finn was producing good bounce from the pitch and was successfully swinging the ball. He troubled the Australian batsmen most as he picked 5 important wickets. Australia were 168 for 7 and they lead by 23 runs when the umpires called stumps.

First innings hero and birthday boy James Anderson got injured and left the field in between. England Cricket Board later confirmed through their Twitter handle about Anderson’s side injury.
